This document outlines the responsibilities, expectations, and policies for tutors engaged with Guru At Home. By accepting a tutoring assignment or representing our platform, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to work independently as a tutor.
- If under 18, written consent from a parent or guardian is required.
2. Onboarding & Approval
- All tutor applications are reviewed. Approval is at the discretion of the Guru At Home team.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your engagement at any time based on performance or conduct.
3. Class Conduct & Etiquette
- Cameras must be on throughout the session for both you and the student.
- Avoid distractions (e.g. mobile use, multitasking) during class.
- Maintain a professional and respectful tone at all times.
4. Attendance, Reports & Homework
- Tutors are required to record the attendance using the shared Google Sheet within 24 hours of each session.
- Assigning and reviewing homework within 2–3 hours post-class is compulsory.
- Conducting bi-weekly tests and providing monthly progress reports with detailed feedback to parents are mandatory.
5. Class Scheduling & Cancellations
- Inform both the client and Guru At Home at least 3 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule a session.
- Unnotified absences may result in a 50% penalty of that class fee.
6. Demo Classes
- The first demo session is unpaid, and lasts a minimum of 30–40 minutes.
7. Payment Terms
- Each tutor will be assigned a specific week for monthly payments. Payments are processed based on sessions delivered in the previous month.
- Please contact the Payments Team to confirm your designated payment week after completing your sessions.
- Accurate reporting and compliance with all responsibilities is mandatory for payment release.
7.1 Tutor Commitment to an Accepted Assignment
- Once a tutor accepts a student and agrees to conduct classes at a mutually agreed fee, the tutor shall be deemed to have accepted the assignment and committed to providing educational services for the agreed duration.
- A tutor shall not discontinue, abandon, suspend, or withdraw from an ongoing assignment without obtaining prior written approval from Guru At Home.
- If a tutor discontinues classes for an assigned student *without a valid reason, such conduct shall be considered a **breach of these Terms & Conditions**.
- Valid reasons may include medical emergencies, family emergencies, or other unavoidable circumstances, subject to review and approval by Guru At Home.
- In the event of a breach, Guru At Home reserves the right to withhold, adjust, recover, or offset any payments associated with the assignment, including payments for completed sessions that have not yet been processed or released.
- Repeated discontinuation of assignments may result in the suspension or permanent termination of the tutor’s account and may disqualify the tutor from future teaching opportunities through Guru At Home.
8. Non-Solicitation & Anti-Poaching
- Tutors must not engage in direct communication with students or parents outside the Guru At Home platform for tutoring or any related services.
- If a client (student or parent) approaches a tutor for direct sessions or arrangements outside the platform, the tutor must immediately inform the Guru At Home management.
- Failure to notify management or proceeding with off-platform arrangements without approval will be considered a breach of contract.
- Violations may result in legal action, including a penalty of ₹500,000 or more, depending on the extent of damages.
- All disputes related to such violations will be resolved through arbitration in Jaipur, Rajasthan, under applicable Indian arbitration laws.
8.1 Purpose of the Tutor Agreement and Acceptance of Terms
- The Tutor Agreement is intended to protect the professional, educational, and commercial interests of both parties, namely the tutor and Guru At Home.
- The agreement serves as a formal record of the rights, responsibilities, obligations, expectations, and policies governing the relationship between the tutor and Guru At Home.
- Refusal to sign the Tutor Agreement shall not exempt a tutor from complying with the company’s policies, procedures, or Terms & Conditions.
- By registering on the Guru At Home website, creating a tutor profile, submitting an application, accepting a demo class, accepting a student assignment, or conducting classes through
- Guru At Home, the tutor acknowledges that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
- Acceptance of the Terms & Conditions during the registration process shall constitute valid electronic consent and shall be considered legally binding to the fullest extent permitted under applicable laws.
- Tutors who choose not to sign a separate written agreement but continue to teach through Guru At Home shall remain fully subject to all rights, obligations, restrictions, liabilities, and policies contained in these Terms & Conditions.
8.2 Non-Solicitation, Circumvention, and Enforcement
- Tutors shall not directly or indirectly solicit, approach, recruit, or engage with any student, parent, guardian, or client introduced through Guru At Home for the purpose of providing services outside the platform.
- Tutors shall not share personal contact details, payment information, or alternative arrangements intended to bypass Guru At Home.
- Any attempt to circumvent the platform or establish a direct commercial relationship with a student or parent introduced by Guru At Home shall constitute a material breach of these Terms & Conditions.
- Any violation of the non-solicitation policy may result in the immediate termination of the tutor’s account, the withholding or recovery of payments, financial penalties, arbitration proceedings, and legal action for damages, as determined by Guru At Home.
9. Abandonment of an Assignment
- A tutor who discontinues classes without providing the required notice or obtaining prior approval from Guru At Home shall be considered to have abandoned the assignment.
- Assignment abandonment may result in payment adjustments, account suspension, permanent removal from the platform, and disqualification from future teaching opportunities.
- Guru At Home reserves the right to take any additional action deemed necessary to protect the interests of students, parents, and the company.
10. Confidentiality
- Tutor agrees not to share personal information or company materials with students, parents, or third parties.
- Breach of confidentiality is subject to immediate dismissal and potential legal action.
11. Intellectual Property & Content Use
Tutors must agree that any teaching material, presentations, assessments, or content created while working with Guru At Home is the intellectual property of the company.
- These materials may not be shared, sold, or reused outside of the platform without written permission.
- Any unauthorized use will be considered a breach of agreement and may result in legal action.
12. Conflict of Interest
Tutors are not permitted to :
- Solicit students or offer private lessons outside of the platform, even through third-party arrangements.
- Promote personal businesses or unrelated services during sessions.
Any potential conflict must be disclosed to the management immediately.
13. Dress Code & Professional Presentation
Tutors are expected to maintain a professional appearance during online sessions.
- Wear appropriate, modest attire.
- Conduct sessions in a clean, well-lit, and quiet environment.
- Sit upright at a desk or table, not on a bed or couch.
This reinforces credibility and trust with students and parents.
14. Technical Requirements
Tutors must ensure:
- A stable internet connection (minimum recommended speed: 10 Mbps upload/download).
- A functioning laptop or tablet with a working webcam and microphone.
- Sessions should not be conducted from mobile phones unless approved.
If technical issues occur repeatedly and disrupt class quality, warnings or penalties may apply.
15. Performance Monitoring
Guru At Home may conduct periodic performance reviews based on:
- Student/parent feedback.
- Session recordings (if applicable).
- Homework completion rates.
- Punctuality and attendance.
Low performance or repeated complaints may lead to probation or termination.
16. Training & Development
Tutors may be required to attend:
- Orientation sessions/Monthly Tutor Meeting during tutoring tenure .
- Periodic training on new tools, teaching methods, or company updates.
Failure to participate in mandatory trainings without valid reason may affect future assignments.
17. Social Media & Public Conduct
Tutors are expected to uphold the company’s values in all public or online forums.
- Do not post student information, screenshots, or conversations online until confirmed by the management team.
- Avoid controversial, offensive, or inappropriate public content while identifying as a Guru At Home tutor.
18. One-on-One Session Policy
- Only one student is allowed per session. Tutors are strictly prohibited from combining two or more students into a single session, regardless of topic, level, or familiarity between students.
- All sessions conducted through Guru At Home must remain strictly one-on-one, as per the company’s personalized tutoring model.
- Violation of this policy may lead to immediate termination and possible withholding of payment for those sessions.
- Exceptions are not permitted unless explicit written permission is granted by Guru At Home management.
🕒 Operational & Teaching Standards
19. Punctuality Policy
Tutors must log in 5 minutes before the scheduled class time to ensure timely start.
Repeated delays or late arrivals (more than 3 per month) may result in performance warnings or payment penalties.
20. Class Rescheduling Limits
Tutors may request to reschedule a session no more than 2 times per student per month unless in an emergency.
Exceeding this may result in sessions being reallocated.
📊 Quality & Evaluation
21. Session Review & Audits
Guru At Home may audit live or recorded sessions periodically for quality checks.
Tutors are expected to cooperate with quality assurance efforts and apply suggested improvements.
22. Lesson Planning & Materials
Tutors must plan lessons in advance, especially for ongoing students.
Sharing of materials (PDFs, assignments, recordings) should be well-organized and aligned with the student’s goals.
Failure to provide quality support materials may affect tutor ratings.
📩 Communication & Professionalism
23. Response Time Policy
Tutors must respond to messages from admins or the management team within 12–24 hours.
Delays in communication may lead to missed assignments or de-prioritization.
24. Language & Interaction Policy
Tutors must use appropriate and professional language during all communication.
Use of slang, sarcasm, or language that may be misinterpreted as disrespectful is discouraged.
🚫 Ethical and Safety Policies
25. Harassment & Misconduct Policy
Any form of harassment, discrimination, or unprofessional conduct (verbal, visual, written) toward students, parents, or colleagues is grounds for immediate dismissal.
This includes inappropriate jokes, comments, or boundary violations.
26. Fake Reporting or Misuse
Submitting false attendance, fake homework reviews, or inaccurate progress reports is considered serious misconduct.
Such actions will lead to permanent removal from the platform.
🔁 Reassignment & Inactivity
27. Inactivity Policy
Tutors who remain inactive (i.e., not taking sessions or unresponsive for over 30 days) without prior notice may be automatically removed from active tutor lists.
28. Reassignment Policy
If a student requests a tutor change or gives consistent negative feedback, the tutor may be reassigned without prior notice.
Feedback will be shared, and improvement may be required for future assignments.
Legal Notice:
- Nothing in these Terms & Conditions shall be interpreted as limiting Guru At Home’s right to pursue any remedy available under applicable laws. The company expressly reserves all legal and equitable rights in the event of a breach of these Terms & Conditions.
- Breaches of performance expectations or communication policies may result in termination.
